Hey There
I’m Hannah! I coach female engineers + women in STEM.
I am a chemical engineer and an organizational psychologist. I combine my 10 years in engineering leadership and background in psychology to help female engineers navigate impossible male-dominated industries.
THE MISSION
To coach female engineers to navigate male-dominated industries, so they can get the careers they want + deserve, at the top.
ABOUT THE COMPANY
Climbing Trees Consulting
I quit my job when I had my daughter, Delilah. I was at the peak of my career. I’d been in engineering leadership for 8 years, but I was finally managing my own big department of 120 people. I loved it. I was solving age-old problems, I was getting to take my department in the direction I always wanted it to go. I was learning how to be a real leader that people respected and looked to for answers. It was the best job I ever had.
But… it wasn’t fulfilling. I didn’t have any internal connection to sending paper out the door to customers, and that was always a problem for me. I tried a lot of things. I shadowed an orthotist/prosthetist. I thought for a minute I wanted to be a chef (seriously). I joined a grad program for mental health counseling. Ultimately, I got pregnant and decided that I’d stay home with her and try to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I ended up joining a Masters program in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. It's taught me how to use psychology to get ahead at work, to navigate people & cultures, and how to use that knowledge to motivate others. In a word - it’s been perfect for me. So when I thought about what was next, I decided to combine my experience in engineering and organizational psychology to help female engineers with the same exact struggles that I faced.
Climbing Trees Consulting was founded in June of 2023. Thanks for being along for the ride.
My Favorite Things
being a chemical engineer
There’s something about the fast-paced environment, the problem-solving in a time crunch, the leading 120 people that will always excite me like no other. Yes, I struggled and went through things I’d wish on no one - but girl could it be fun.
my little family
I am raising a 2.5 year old daughter & future CEO, and I’ve been married for 7 years to another chemical engineer. We also have a rescue pup named Riley/Boogie.. depends on the day, but she answers to both :).
traveling will always be my #1
I’ve been all over this crazy world of ours, and now I get to show it to my daughter. Owning this business gives me the freedom to do it.
playing community sports
Kickball in the winter, wiffle ball in the summer. NOTHING makes me more excited than playing these sports with my girls.
